Love is a creative game

Here is the first Barbie to have a doobie and be tattooed. The first British artist to win 5 Grammy in one night, AMY WINEHOUSE has spawned imitators and been the muse for fashion designers, most notably Karl Lagerfeld. And here we go again...inspiring... with her distinctive style, and beehive hairstyle, perfectly cloned, by a girl clearly in love with her boy friend. Popjustice site narrates the story of a girl in love, who went through all this trouble and hard work to replicate the British crooner, just to please her lover; as for the man to whom this doll was dedicated, he is obviously in love with a-m-a-zing Amy. Who isn't?
& here are some awing facts & figures: By 12 March 2008, the special deluxe edition of "Back to Black" had sold a total of 2,467,575 copies, putting the album on the UK's top 10 best-selling albums of the 21st century for the first time. On 7 April "Back to Black" was residing at the top position on the pan-European charts, for the 6th consecutive & 13th aggregate week. The original edition of the album resided at the number 30 position, in its 68th week on the charts. How awesome is that? Simply AdMYrable!!

Calvin & Hobbes: Insight into the Mind

Bill Watterson's 'Calvin & Hobbes' are one of the most delightful cartoon creations...ever. My favourite comic strips, wonderful as, Calvin & Hobbes never stop getting into trouble; and I can never get tired of Calvin & Hobbes. The six-year old kid and his stuffed tiger are always faced with obstacles, getting into weird and wonderful situations; from his folks to the teacher, their stories are always full of creativity and the kind of humour that makes u laugh and go huh..at the same time... Where would Calvin be without Hobbes? His ever present animal companion... Calvin is the very model of childhood innocence, imagination, and such inquisitive little kid. With crazy and outlandish imagination, he raves on philosophical, socio-political, and psychological matters, where Hobbes tends to chip in with wonderfully dry comments. The result is witty, funny, visually inventive, and pleasurably thoughtful. Hobbes often talks using comically long words and articulate terms well. There are other characters who appear too, notably his neighbour Susie. She is the polar-opposite of Calvin; serious and well mannered.
If you like Calvin & Hobbes and for anyone not familiar with Calvin and Hobbes, I recommend ALL of Bill Watterson's strip books. Watterson won the 1986 Reuben Award as Outstanding Cartoonist of the Year. "The Calvin and Hobbes: Tenth Anniversary Book" features commentaries from the man himself, as Watterson narrates 'Calvin and Hobbes' making of and the inspiration behind it. He writes about the struggles he's had with them and discusses the pressures faced to commercialise them more. It's loaded with Insights into Modern Culture. Otherwise, & BEST Buy, The Whole Box Set; Enjoy a wonderful Insight into the Mind.

Charming e-burka

THIS IS ONE PUZZLING CRAZY FUNNY INVENTION
Markus Kison’s ‘Charming Burka’ was showcased at Seamless, a fashion event, featuring innovative and experimental works, interactive clothing, and technology-based fashion organised by MIT Media Lab graduate students.
‘Charming Burka’ is a digitally-enabled covering that gives the wearer the option of electronically displaying the face they are being made to hide. A controversial product, though not explicitly forbidden by Islamic law, the burka apparently deals with Freud’s idea that all clothes can be positioned between appeal and shame.
The German designer describes the concept behind his project:
"The Burka was chosen because it is often perceived in the west as a symbol of repression. Then a digital layer was added to it so that women can decide for themselves where they want to position themselves virtually. The Burka sends an image, chosen by the wearer, via bluetooth. Every person next to her can receive her picture via mobile phone and see the woman’s self-determined identity. The laws of the Koran are not broken, so the Charming Burka fulfills the desire of living a more western life, which some Muslim women desire today. The Burka is equipped with bluetooth antenna/micro-controller and uses the OBEX protocol, already working with most mobile phones."
More than 1000 visitors attended the show in the Boston Museum of Science. Model Meiver De la Cruz presented the 'CharmingBurka' on the catwalk, while the audience could receive the portrait of the model on their mobile phones. After the catwalk visitors came around to discuss the idea or pick up the picture, if they weren't able to do it before.

Well Here we go again... I stumbled acrooss a blog full of subverted brands, and the nice thing about it, is that it's written by a Lebanese blogger. Leba-none is full of parody, Adbusters mode. Here is what I picked; but you can fly away and check all the good stuff drawn & graphed by blogger of Leba-None.

Killing mail

It's just too funny--What was he thinking? I LAUGH thanks to Clayton Cramer's BLOG

Propaganda-fed citizens

I just can't get enough of ads' parody, subverted logos, and graphic manipulations of super brands . Maybe it's a way to remind myself that the world is twisting too fast...And then, let such a thought trigger the usual... An existential anxiety that would go on to precipitate my mind in all directions, and have my neurones -- or what is left of them-- roll and refresh... Another reason, could also be to reassure myself that I agree with the likes of Adbusters and Kasle Lasne and I should stop thinking and agreeing, rather acting and engaging myself in what every cause I believe in... That post has already diminished my guilt trip since posting these images and letting the blog roll is already one adbusting action. Provided the messages get to someone through this post; and naturally, someone somewhere would start thinking that he, too, should start acting Adbusters mode. Enjoy this delicious propaganda-fed citizens; it is good stuff and definitely refreshing parody for every brain.

Grass in Vending Machines

It happens that sometimes -- actually so many times'; although in Lebanon, it's not available at every corner-, I find that vending machines are one hell of an invention. They are always here waiting to be clicked or banged on to serve you their offerings. For people, like me- obviously, (whith no notion of time, discipline, organisation, time management, u name it!) may find themselves in the most ackward situation, if distributors of anything never existed: condoms could be life saviour for many, even though never had to look for that one; but when it comes to munchies, coffee, soft drinks, and mostly cash am just in love with the machine. But here is the most surprising machine distributor of it all: Mary Jane just in a click...Believe it or not! M-A-R-Y J-AN-E Actually, it's not that simple but it's so true. The real deal is that you can get medical marijuana, from Anytime Vending Machines. AVMs are 24/7 machines housed in standalone rooms, abutting two dispensaries and protected by round-the-clock security guards -- like ATMs for people combating psychological withdrawal with a physical one. After cinching up your doctor's consultation, hit an AVM location to get your prescription approved, fingerprint taken, and a prepaid credit card loaded with your profile: dosage (3.5 or 7 grams, up to 1oz a week) and strain preference (choice of five, including OG Cush and Granddaddy Purple, the mildly hallucinogenic forebear to Prince). Sarkosy at Disneyland

Is Sarkosy perceived as an American by-product? This visual seems to indicate so. Gilles Dupuis, a French graphic designer -- I got to discover online, sent me yesterday, this amusing illustration of Sarko impersonated in Mickey Mouse. He looks funny but, I think, it reflects well the French president’s dynamism; I sensed Sarkosy’s punch, felt he’s about to jump out of the picture. However, I think Dupuis’s message is unmistakable and manages to convey the idea of Sarkosy being an American fan. Substituting and tampering such recognisable icons are common satiric conceits. And this one does mirror a dominant feel among the French people, of Sarkosy being clearly pro Bush; as Mickey, the French president definitely looks like a devotee to the American cowboy, a sentiment that hasn’t made the French particularly enthusiastic about it. Dupuis used this graphic icon to send the message that receivers, as well as creators, of graphic messages have a responsibility to seek out the truth - Since the Vietnam war, corporate logos and and manifold symbols have been target of indignation and outrage (for the morally questionable implications and acts). Click here to check out likewise sampled trademarks. This visual is eerily resonant and it surely has a character; it makes me smile each time I look at it, and I have the feeling that Nicolas is about to bring some good entertainment to France. Hell yes, Allez Sarko! France needs some peps; it needs someone to erase the dull image that has been sticking on the hexagon’s back, for a while now. It’s time to PUMP IT UP! Dupuis’s graphic works are mostly imprint with social awareness and extreme wit and lightness. It speaks about stuff that matter with no pompous tone; he never appears like someone dictating moral behaviour; rather, his graphic minimalism makes you pause and meditate substantial social issues on a twisted 'musical' tone but great awareness. Ma Boule is simply charmed! I LIKE & LAUGH... Merci Gilles :0)
